About Dan Danielson

Dan is a lifelong Carlton County resident with 26 years of law enforcement experience. He has served as a Patrol Deputy, Investigator, Lieutenant, and currently as Undersheriff, working with the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office since 2000.

He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth and brings steady, accountable leadership rooted in both frontline experience and department operations. 

He and his wife, Katie, raised their three children in Carlton County, where he also served on the Cloquet School Board, the Cloquet Educational Foundation, and coached youth and high school basketball.

Why He's Running for Sheriff

Carlton County is Dan's home, and he's running for Sheriff to help keep it a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

As Undersheriff, he believes the Sheriff must be a leader, guardian, and partner, balancing strong operational leadership with transparent, community-focused policing. 

His goal is to lead a professional, trusted Sheriff’s Office that serves the community with accountability, integrity, and respect.
